This year me and my fellow fugitive hunters were given the task of locating and recovering a suspect who was still in the area and committing various dangerous crimes. Each time he hurt a person or committed a robbery, he would leave behind clear evidence it was the same person committing these crimes. The issue we had was his support network was so deep that we could not get to him even though we knew he was still in the city.
The very first thing that my team does when we have a situation like this is to go back to family and friends and literally get in their faces every single day. The hope here is that they will either get tired of seeing us and give us a solid lead, or they will reach out to our suspect and point the way to where he is hiding. The problem we had was this suspect knew that was the first place we would look, so for days he went deep into hiding.
On a hunch, I went to the local jail to see if I could rattle a few cages and get the inmates to talk about our suspect. Chances are good that he has to have at least one enemy, and these inmates simply love to talk on the phones. Securus Technologies installed a new phone monitoring system i planned to use to help close this case.
The CEO of the company, Richard Smith, says that his employees all work towards the objective of making our world that much safer. We were about to discover that this Dallas-based company really walks the walk.
Hours later, one inmate was talking about a debt the suspect still owed and how he was going to give up his location at a cousins if he wasn’t taken care of. That information was key in finding our suspect asleep one morning and taking him to jail.
